Real Estate Fundamentals

Real Estate Fundamentals is a 60-hour Washington pre-license course designed to give future real estate brokers the foundation they need before entering real estate practice and preparing for the licensing exam.

This course introduces the major concepts every new real estate student must understand, including real property ownership, land use controls, contracts, agency, listing agreements, purchase and sale agreements, title transfer, valuation, finance, escrow, leasing, property management, Washington license law, fair housing, consumer protection, and foundational real estate math.

The course is built to help students understand the “why” behind the rules, not just memorize vocabulary. Each lesson breaks down important real estate concepts in a clear, practical way and connects them to real-world situations a future broker may encounter. Students will learn how property rights work, how contracts create obligations, how agency relationships affect duties, how financing and settlement fit into a transaction, and why consumer protection runs through every part of real estate practice.

Real Estate Fundamentals also emphasizes exam readiness. Students will review key terms, common areas of confusion, scenario-based examples, and practical knowledge checks that mirror the type of thinking needed for the Washington real estate licensing exam. The goal is to help students build confidence, recognize tested concepts, and begin thinking like responsible future real estate professionals.

By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation for the Washington Real Estate Practices course and for additional exam preparation courses that focus directly on the national and state exam outlines.
